About

The Seattle Dahlia Society was formed in 1957 by dahlia growers in the Puget Sound region.  Several growers were well-known hybridizers of dahlia varieties or florists plus many backyard hobbyists.  Sixty Annual Shows were held until 2018 when the Puget Sound Dahlia Association and Seattle combined their shows.

The main purpose of the Seattle Dahlia Society (SDS) is to promote growing dahlias and learn best practices in all areas of dahlia horticulture by growing and exhibiting dahlias.  We are a friendly group who enjoy sharing our knowledge and experience growing our favorite flower as we continue to improve our skills.  Our members are a knowledgeable, enthusiastic group and are always happy to answer questions.  You will be an asset to SDS and we welcome you to join us!

Visitors are always welcome – so drop by and get acquainted!  It’s a great way to meet other dahlia enthusiasts and learn more about growing dahlias

We are part of the Federation of NW Dahlia Growers, consisting of dahlia societies from British Columbia to Portland, Oregon, and the American Dahlia Society which is made up of societies in Canada and the U.S.

Members meet monthly (January through June) + (August through November).   A picnic is held in July and a Christmas Dinner Party in December.
